  • Fencers must present their mask, fencing uniform (jacket, under plastron and breeches) to weapon control counter for checking, staff will stamp on the approved items. Only equipment that has been approved and stamped may be used.
  • In case of any dispute, the decision of the chief referee will be final.
  • Chest protector: all fencers must wear chest protector.
  • Hair: long hair must be tied up and placed inside the clothing and/or mask. Otherwise, a yellow card of warning will be given.

  • Registration deadline: 15 March 2026 31 March 2026, 23:59 (GMT+7), or until full capacity is reached.
  • Late registration: Registrations submitted after the deadline will incur an additional administrative fee per event, on top of the registration fee: USD 20 per individual event and USD 40 per team event.
  • Acceptance of rules: By submitting your registration, you confirm that you have read and agreed to the competition rules, terms, and arrangements set by the organizers.

  • Schedule conflicts: If you register for multiple events and there is a timetable conflict after the final schedule is released on 20 April 2026, you must choose which event to participate in. One conflicting event may be refunded in full.

Format

Individual Events: There will be one round of Poules, after which a Direct Elimination.

(a) The following formats will be used for the various age groups:

U14, U16, U19, Senior, Open 5 points / 3 mins 15 points / 3 periods of 3 mins / 1 min break and 1 min break at 8th point for Sabre
U8, U10, U12 5 points / 3 mins 10 points / 2 periods of 3 mins / 1 min break and 1 min break at 5th point for Sabre
  • Bout of poule ends when one of the fencers has scored 5 points or three minutes of effective fencing time have passed.
  • In each bout of all poules and direct elimination before table of 32, the effective time will not be stopped even the referee call “halt”. From table of 16, the effective time of each match will be stopped when the referee call “halt”.
  • Based on the number of fencers in each group, the direct elimination will be structured with different elimination rates as follows:
    • 16 fencers or less: No elimination in the bout and proceeding straight to the Quarter-finals
    • 17 fencers or more: 20% to 30% elimination in the bout

Team Events:

  • Each team consists of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 fencers. In team events, rankings will be determined by the sum of the individual rankings of the top three fencers from the team in the individual competition. If any team member does not achieve a valid result in the individual event or if a younger fencer is substituted, their individual ranking will be calculated as the total number of fencers in that age category plus “1”.
  • Each match consists of 45 scores (total 9 relays in each match, 5 scores and 3 minutes for each relay). The team who got 45 scores wins the match.

Referee Obligation

Each country/club participating must provide referees at their expense:

❖ Qualified referees with good national or international level qualification and experience.

❖ If unable to fulfil obligations, a referee levy of US$120/referee/day will be charged.

❖ Referees must be properly attired in jacket/blazer/polo tee and long pants.

Accreditation

Officials, athletes, coaches and their accompanying adults (parents or guardians) should upload a passport-sized photo to BangkokOpen.com after registration, no later than April 1, 2026, for entry ID badge creation. An email with instruction will be sent to you on March 11, 2026.

Competition Management

  • Referee

    Qualified referees will be appointed by the organizing committee. Referees are required to attend the Referees’ meeting on April 30, 2026, at 4PM. Referees must be properly attired in jacket/blazer and long pants.

  • Directoire Technique (DT)

    The DT shall be responsible for the technical organization of the competition. Members of DT will be designated by the organizing committee and host country.

  • Protests

    Appeals against decisions of a referee should be made immediately by the competitor so their team captain to the referee, before any decision is made regarding a subsequent hit. If the referee should maintain his decision, the complaint shall be brought to the attention of the DT.

Language

Official language in English and Thai.

  • To request a visa invitation letter, please log in to your account on the BangkokOpen.com registration platform and submit your request no later than March 16, 2026.
  • Make sure to provide all necessary personal details exactly as they appear on your passport.
  • The invitation letter will be sent to your registered email address.
